Activities
Many of our members support our community by going out and storm watching around the county. You must attend SkyWarn classes with the National Weather Service in order to participate in storm watching. Club members are also active in the Radio Amateur Civil Emergency Service (R.A.C.E.S.)
We have dinner together the a couple of times a week, normally Friday and Sunday evening. Give a call on the repeaters around 5 pm to find out where the group is meeting that day.
The club provides communications for the Comanche Peak Steam Electric Station's annual Tour de Peak Bicycle Race in Glen Rose, Texas. The race is normally held in the month of May.
Field Day is an annual competition held by the Amateur Radio Relay League. Hams nationwide set up stations and attempt to make as many contacts with other stations as possible. Slated for the fourth full weekend in June, hams refine their skills in operating in abnormal or less than optimal conditions.
Testing and Licensing
Volunteer examiners provide testing prior to meetings. You must schedule a testing session in advance. Study materials are available through members or via the Internet. There are several classes of licenses and you must test for your initial license and then test for licenses in higher classes. Contact: Raymond Jeffus AC5CP for more information or attend one of our meetings. We would be glad to have you!
